David de Gea stokes Man Utd return rumours after confirming meeting with current star

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has returned to England, as fans call for the veteran’s return following Andre Onana’s worrying form. David de Gea sent Manchester United fans into a frenzy online after sharing a photo of himself enjoying a meal with on-loan defender Sergio Reguilon. De Gea, 32, spent more than a decade at Old Trafford before leaving the club this summer when his contract expired. However, the Spaniard’s replacement Andre Onana has made a series of serious errors since joining the Red Devils in a contract worth £47.2 million.

Onana’s form has given some United fans hope that De Gea will return, with the veteran goalkeeper currently without a club. Those calls have intensified this week after De Gea returned to Manchester in order to sort some issues with his old house. De Gea had already teased fans on Instagram by posting a story from Leigh Sports Village, where United women’s team’s played Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League qualifier, on Tuesday night. And he went one step further by sharing a snap of him alongside Reguilon – the Tottenham left-back who joined United on loan in the summer – on his Instagram story the following evening.

De Gea has rejected offers to return to football and is believed to be in no to rush to decide his next move. The veteran was offered a lucrative deal to move to Saudi Arabia in the summer but knocked back that interest, while top European clubs have also been linked with him. De Gea was moved that Erik ten Hag wanted a goalkeeper who was comfortable playing with his feet from behind. Onana, who worked alongside him at Ajax, possesses such qualities, but the early months of his United career were marred by a number of embarrassing mistakes. Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel admitted earlier this week that he is concerned Onana’s teammates have lost faith in their new goalkeeper.

“I think a lot of [Onana’s errors] were due to pressure. I spoke to him after the Bayern match. I also talked to him after Galatasaray and he was very disappointed with the mistakes he made. “I tried to talk to him about what it was like to be at Manchester United and why no matter what [mistakes] you’ve made, you have to put them in a box and put them aside. If you make a mistake in the game, it happens.” could be an error that we can see or an error that we don’t see. But you have to wait to think about it and analyze it after the game or overnight or whatever. You have to be there for the next moment. If you don’t do this, you will make the next mistake. And now he’s making the whole group uncomfortable. They won’t trust him anymore, and God, that’s not good.
